During the Coronavirus outbreak, we are facing perhaps the most difficult period in peace time Britain. We now find ourselves having to stay indoors and distance ourselves from many of our usual activities. This is incredibly frustrating, especially for frequent gym attendees who are used to taking part in regular physical activity.

Throughout the outbreak, there is likely going to be many people staying at home with time on their hands. It may be that some gym enthusiasts may have to consider new hobbies, whilst others may see this time as an ideal time to invest in themselves by studying for a Personal Training qualification.

In light of innovations in technology it is now possible, if studying with an approved provider, to undertake your studies at home throughout the Coronavirus outbreak. By utilising e-learning, videos, pod casts, video conferencing, and many other forms of media all content of a Personal Trainer course can be studied remotely.

There must also be contact throughout a course, which can be achieved via remote tutorials which can be held via telephone, Facetime or Skype. As long as a provider has the support systems in place, such technologies can allow sufficient contact.

With regards to exams, coursework can be emailed in for marking, whilst new innovations in online assessment may let students take their theory exams from home (which is useful to comply with social distancing at present)

It is an obvious issue that, with gyms closed, exams of a practical nature are going to be difficult during COVID-19. Many providers will offer the option to defer practical exams until the end of the course or such a time when their training centers reopen. Alternative options may also exist which include recording assessments at a local gym once gyms are open again.

In terms of practical tuition, this will be difficult at present on a face to face basis however tuition done remotely via Skype is a viable alternative at present. Also a good provider should be able to offer you the chance to retrospectively attend face to face practical workshops once gyms reopen so you don’t miss out honing practical and soft skills.

It is quite likely that we will see somewhat of a boom in the Fitness sector when gyms reopen their doors, so a popular option is to get qualified now to be part of that boom. Studying online is also a good way of keeping busy with many people spending a lot more time at home than usual, so putting the time to good use makes sense.

A reputable training provider who is being very proactive throughout the Coronavirus outbreak is Study Active. To find out about their innovations and flexibility (as well as discounts) please contact them on info@studyactive.co.uk or via 0345 017 8733.
